You cannot see the top of the white table in the pictures. The granite top was matching the countertops in the kitchen so it was placed on top of this white table (it is not attached). Eventually, the weight of this granite top caused the crack you see in the bottom of the pedestal. This crack does not go all the way through. A cylinder was placed underneath the pedestal to prevent it from breaking. So far it has done the job (it has been there 5 to 10 years).
